Internationally qualified podiatrists

To work as a podiatrist in Australia, you must be registered with the Podiatry Board of Australia (the Board).

Pathways to registration

There are different pathways to registration and practice in Australia for podiatrists who have gained their qualifications outside Australia.

Read the information on the registration pathways page to find out which registration pathway is right for you.

You may be eligible for streamlined registration if you currently hold registration and a practising certificate in New Zealand, or, if your qualification is on the Board’s list of recognised international qualifications.

If your qualification is not in either of these categories, you will need to have it assessed and depending on the outcome you may need to successfully complete the Board’s National Podiatry Examination (the examination is not yet available).

To see the pathways at a glance, download the Podiatry pathways to general registration flowchart (153 KB,PDF).

Apply for registration

Further information about the registration process is available on the international health practitioners page of the Ahpra website.

You may also need to have a visa to work and live in Australia. We cannot advise you on visa eligibility.

We recommend that you do not apply for work or set up a practice until you are registered. We cannot influence employment outcomes or help you find employment.
