Registration pathways for internationally qualified podiatric surgeons

If you have an international qualification as a podiatric surgeon, you must show that you are qualified. The qualification requirements are outlined in section 57 and 58 of the National Law and are explained below.

There is one pathway for internationally qualified podiatric surgeons.

Qualification Assessment Pathway

We will need to assess your podiatry qualification(s) to advise you if you are qualified for specialist registration as a podiatric surgeon.

We will need to assess your qualification portfolio before you apply for registration. A qualification portfolio means all your qualifications in podiatry and podiatric surgery. There are three possible assessment outcomes:

  • Your qualification(s) are substantially equivalent, or based on similar competencies, to an approved qualification in podiatric surgery.
  • Your qualification is relevant to the podiatry profession for specialisation as a podiatric surgeon.
  • You are not qualified for specialist registration in Australia.

Submit this form to us to have your qualification portfolio assessed:

For information on how we use the data we collect, please see the collection statement.

  • Collection statement for podiatry or the assessment of non-approved qualifications form – coming soon

You can find information about this pathway and the criteria we use to assess qualifications at our Assessment of international qualifications page.
