Internationally qualified podiatric surgeons

To work as a podiatric surgeon in Australia, you must be registered as a specialist podiatric surgeon with the Podiatry Board of Australia (the Board).

All internationally qualified podiatric surgeons must have their qualification(s) assessed.

Following assessment of your qualification(s), if you’re advised that your qualifications(s) are equivalent to an approved qualification, you can then apply for specialist registration.

Applying for registration

To apply for registration as a podiatric surgeon in Australia you must meet the requirements for specialist registration as a podiatric surgeon.

When you apply for specialist registration, we review your application to ensure you meet the Registration Standards that apply to podiatric surgeons. These include:

After you are granted registration, you also need to meet these standards:

  • CPD
  • professional indemnity insurance
  • recency of practice.

Skills assessment and visa requirements
