Members of the inaugural Podiatry Board of Australia were appointed for three years by the Australian Health Workforce Ministerial Council on 31 August 2009.

The Podiatry Board of Australia has decided not to establish State and Territory Boards. However the work of the Board will be supported by AHPRA in each State and Territory.

 

Functions of the Board

The functions of the Podiatry Board of Australia include:

  • registering podiatrists and students
  • developing standards, codes and guidelines for the podiatry profession
  • handling notifications, complaints, investigations and disciplinary hearings
  • assessing overseas trained practitioners who wish to practise in Australia  
  • approving accreditation standards and accredited courses of study.
